Your Last Chance to See An Aussie Shamelessly Wear An All Blacks Jersey in New Zealand for 3 months in the flesh!

Hi guys, thanks to everyone who has followed so far. I really appreciate it and I'm humbled that you have chosen to help me out. I'm lagging behind the Top 3, but it's not over until it's over at midday NZ time.

Anyway, make sure to let me know if there is anything I can ever help you out with!

Yesterday I was feeling a bit like someone who had been stood up on a potential hot date.

As I mentioned in the below post, The Sunday Mail had arranged for a photographer to come around and take a few shots of me being a goose in an All Blacks jersey.

Actually, the photographer racked up hundreds of shots and I felt like Zoolander but much heavier with all of the different poses.

The catwalk is definitely not for me!

Anyway, the story wasn't run in the Sunday Mail. I'm not sure why, but it doesn't matter - this ride so far has been great, and I'm grateful to be part of the experience!

But as a substitute, I had this silly photo taken of me to , just to prove that I'm 'Keen As Bro' to promote the great country that is New Zealand to the rest of the world!

Anyway, thanks for all of the support so far - and good luck to the other contestants for the run home!

For all the Kiwis out there (and everyone else), it's not too late to Press 'FOLLOW' on the right hand side and have an Australian wear an All Blacks jersey for 3 months in New Zealand!

Thanks once again for everything!

Cheers
Anthony

New Zealand Language Guide

New Zealand is pretty much the most isolated country on the planet.

I laughed at one ‘Flight Of The Conchords’ episode that had the funniest tourism sign displayed inside the New Zealand consulate.

It said ‘New Zealand – Only 18 Hours From New York’.

I love the tinge of understatement!

New Zealand is great fun though – I’ve been there a couple of times. The people there are friendly, the scenery is inspiring, and beer there is fabulous.

However, because New Zealand is so far away from everywhere else, Kiwis have their own unique bent on the English language, both in terms of slang and pronunciation.

First time visitors to New Zealand can often find the accent almost impossible to understand. In fact, I’ve seen some US TV shows that have been shot in New Zealand for American audiences use English subtitles when the locals speak!

Maybe New Zealand is the Scotland of the Southern Hemisphere!

So I’ve produced my own New Zealand English guide for prospective travellers to New Zealand, which includes the expression, and what it means.

Enjoy!

Handle The Jandal - Someone/thing can handle the pressure
Fush and Chups - Ocean animal and food derived from potatoes.
Chilly Bin - Esky, Ice Box
Slicker Pads - The ice bricks you place in a Chilly Bin
Judder Bars - Speed bumps
Cuz - Your cousin, including 1st, 2nd or 400th cousin
Sweet As Bro! - Fantastic, Awesome!

Now that you’re fluent, there’s no excuse now to not visit New Zealand and talk with the locals!

Thanks for reading!

Also, I'd be grateful if you clicked the 'Follow' button on the right hand side to send me to New Zealand for 3 months! Thanks!

Follow The Travel Tart Cruising Around New Zealand Bro!

Hi there!

My name is Anthony, but I'm better known as the author of The Travel Tart - Offbeat Tales From A Travel Addict.

I write about the funny, offbeat and downright weird aspects of world travel today.

I love travelling around this planet of ours to experience it's awesome people, cultures, food and beer.

I even do crazy stuff like cycle down 'The World's Most Dangerous Road' in Bolivia:

Anyway, I am from the West Island of New Zealand - Australia!

That's right, since there's so many Kiwis over here, I decided to put in an application for me to go over to New Zealand for a while and even up the numbers a tiny bit!

Basically, the nice people at Entirely Kiwi and their 'World Famous' promotion want to shout someone an all expenses paid trip around New Zealand for 3 months.

If you look at the 'About' section on the right hand side of this blog, it's similar to the hugely successful 'Best Job In The World' promotion - but with tonnes more sheep and less sunshine.

Out of hundreds of entries, they were silly enough to shortlist me in their Top 10 choices.

I was fairly stunned about this because I decided to put in a fairly shonky application at the last minute, including a terrible sequence of me pretending to have a New Zealand accent - if you're feeling a tad insane, you can view it here.

Unfortunately, I've sold my soul and mentioned that I would even wear an All Blacks jersey for the entire trip if I won.

But I need your help - to send me to New Zealand, click on the 'Follow' button on the right hand side. The winner will be selected from the Top 3 most followed blogs!

Anyway, talk soon, and stay tuned for more posts!

Cheers

Anthony
